DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 4, 2026 (XOL Africa) — Indian industrial equipment manufacturer Elgi Equipments has introduced its patented Demand=Match technology to the Middle East and Africa, targeting manufacturers seeking to reduce electricity consumption and operating costs as energy efficiency becomes an increasingly important consideration for industrial production.
In a statement released during Gulfood Manufacturing 2026 in Dubai, the company said the technology could deliver energy savings of up to 17 per cent under applicable operating conditions by automatically adjusting compressed air delivery to match changing production requirements.
The launch, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 3 to 5, marks the regional introduction of the technology, which is designed for food and beverage manufacturers, packaging companies and other industrial businesses that depend on compressed air systems.
Compressed air is widely used in manufacturing processes, including packaging, bottling, food processing and the operation of automated production equipment. However, conventional compressor systems can consume significant amounts of electricity, particularly when production demand fluctuates.
For African manufacturers, where electricity costs, unreliable power supplies and infrastructure constraints can affect industrial competitiveness, technologies that improve energy efficiency could help reduce production expenses.
Elgi said Demand=Match would initially be available on its EG Series fixed-speed air compressors, ranging from 11 to 75 kilowatts, and EQ Series models, ranging from 11 to 45 kilowatts.
The technology uses patented airflow regulation and internal recirculation to adjust compressed air output according to actual factory requirements.
Unlike conventional fixed-speed compressors, which typically alternate between loaded and unloaded operating cycles, the system is designed to reduce unnecessary cycling while maintaining stable pressure.
According to the company, the approach can reduce energy waste, limit mechanical stress on equipment and extend compressor service life.
Elgi said its EG Series compressors equipped with Demand=Match had demonstrated energy savings of up to 17 per cent, although actual performance would depend on operating conditions and variations in compressed air demand.
The company did not disclose the cost of installing the technology or provide a breakdown of potential savings for individual African markets.
Bhavesh Karia, executive president for India, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia at Elgi Equipments, said manufacturers were increasingly prioritising productivity and energy efficiency.
“Food manufacturers across the Gulf are increasingly focused on improving productivity, reducing energy consumption and maintaining consistent quality at scale,” Karia said.
“Our longstanding engagement with customers in the region has given us a deep understanding of their operational challenges and where efficiency improvements can make a meaningful difference.”
He said the technology was developed to address operational inefficiencies associated with changing compressed air requirements in industrial facilities.
“By intelligently matching compressed air delivery to actual plant requirements, we are helping manufacturers reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs and extend equipment life without compromising reliability,” Karia said.
The regional launch comes as manufacturers across Africa face pressure to improve productivity while managing electricity expenses and the costs of maintaining industrial equipment.
In sectors such as food processing, beverages and packaging, compressed air systems are essential to production, making their efficiency an important factor in overall operating costs.
Reducing electricity consumption could also support companies seeking to lower the carbon intensity of manufacturing operations, particularly in markets where industrial power generation remains dependent on fossil fuels.
However, the financial benefits of the technology would vary according to electricity tariffs, compressor utilisation, production schedules and maintenance requirements.
For manufacturers operating in countries with unstable electricity supplies, improved compressor efficiency may reduce energy requirements, although it would not eliminate the need for reliable power infrastructure.
The technology also reflects a broader industrial shift towards equipment capable of responding more efficiently to changes in production demand without requiring extensive modifications to existing manufacturing processes.
Elgi said its Demand=Match system was intended to retain the simplicity and reliability of fixed-speed compressor technology while providing greater flexibility in airflow management.
The company is presenting the technology at Gulfood Manufacturing, an industrial exhibition that brings together equipment suppliers, food producers and manufacturing technology companies from international markets.
The event provides a platform for manufacturers and equipment distributors serving Africa and the Middle East to evaluate technologies aimed at improving factory productivity and operational efficiency.
Elgi has not announced country-specific deployment plans, new manufacturing facilities or investment commitments in Africa associated with the launch.
The company also did not identify African customers that have adopted the technology or provide a timetable for wider commercial deployment across the continent.
Nevertheless, the introduction expands the range of industrial energy-efficiency technologies being marketed to manufacturers in Africa, where controlling production costs remains central to efforts to strengthen local manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported finished goods.
For Elgi, the regional launch represents an opportunity to expand its industrial equipment business by offering manufacturers technology intended to lower the total cost of compressor ownership.
The commercial impact will depend on customer adoption, equipment pricing and whether the energy savings demonstrated under applicable operating conditions can be replicated across different industrial environments.
Elgi Equipments is showcasing Demand=Match at Hall 3, Stand D3-46, during Gulfood Manufacturing 2026, which concludes on November 5.
