LAGOS, Nigeria (XOL Africa) — Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) has announced an interim dividend of ₦1.30 per ordinary share after reporting record financial results for the first half of 2026, driven by stronger market activity, increased transaction income and improved profitability.

The company said the dividend reflects the strength of its earnings, improved cash generation and the Board’s confidence in the sustainability of the Group’s long-term growth strategy while maintaining capacity for continued investment in technology, market development and capital market infrastructure.

NGX Group recorded ₦17.60 billion in revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2026, representing a 118% increase from ₦8.08 billion recorded in the same period in 2025.

Total income rose 96% to ₦19.34 billion, supported largely by increased activity across the Nigerian capital market. Transaction fees surged 169% to ₦13.34 billion, while listing fees increased 59% to ₦2.38 billion. Technology income also grew by 19% to ₦447.86 million.

Operating profit climbed 155% to ₦10.62 billion, compared with ₦4.16 billion in the previous year, reflecting stronger operating efficiency as revenue growth outpaced increases in expenses.

The Group also reported a 130% increase in its share of profit from equity-accounted investees to ₦4.14 billion, mainly supported by the performance of Central Securities Clearing System Plc.

As a result, profit before tax increased 170% to ₦14.76 billion, while profit after tax rose 146% to ₦10.36 billion from ₦4.22 billion in the first half of 2025.

NGX Group’s balance sheet remained strong, with total assets reaching ₦75.87 billion as of June 30, 2026. Shareholders’ equity increased to ₦60.49 billion, up from ₦55.20 billion at the end of 2025.

NGX Group Chairman Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga said the interim dividend reflected the company’s confidence in its financial performance and future prospects.

“The Board’s approval of an interim dividend of ₦1.30 per share reflects the strength of NGX Group’s first-half performance and our confidence in the Group’s long-term prospects,” Kwairanga said.

“We are encouraged by the significant growth recorded across the business and by the increasing contribution of companies within the Group’s investment portfolio. The Board remains committed to balancing attractive returns to shareholders with continued investment in the infrastructure, technology and strategic initiatives required to deepen Nigeria’s capital market and position NGX Group for sustainable growth.”

Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Temi Popoola said the results demonstrated the scalability of NGX Group’s business model and its ability to convert market growth into stronger profitability.

“Our first-half results demonstrate the strength and scalability of NGX Group’s business model,” Popoola said.

“Revenue growth was supported by significantly higher transaction activity, increased listing income and stronger contributions from our investee companies, while disciplined execution enabled us to translate this growth into substantially improved profitability.”

He added that the Group would continue focusing on improving market liquidity, expanding investor participation and developing technology-driven financial products.

“We remain focused on sustaining this momentum by deepening market liquidity, expanding investor participation, accelerating the development of technology-enabled products and building a more diversified financial market infrastructure group,” Popoola said.

“The ₦1.30 interim dividend reflects both the progress made and our confidence in the Group’s capacity to deliver sustainable long-term value.”

NGX Group said shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members on the qualification date will be eligible for the interim dividend. The qualification date, register closure period and payment date will be announced in line with regulatory requirements and the approved corporate action timetable.
