PARIS, Sept. 25, 2026 (XOL Africa) — The TotalEnergies board has unanimously reaffirmed its support for the company’s strategy and said it intends to propose the renewal of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Pouyanné at the company’s annual shareholders meeting in May 2027.

The decision followed the board’s annual strategic seminar on Sept. 23 and 24, where directors reviewed the company’s outlook and its strategy built around two main pillars, Oil & Gas and Integrated Power.

TotalEnergies said it would present its updated outlook to investors on Sept. 28.

The board also reviewed the company’s governance structure and unanimously decided to retain a combined chairman and chief executive role, with a Lead Independent Director serving as a key point of contact for shareholders.

It will propose the renewal of Pouyanné’s mandate, along with that of Jacques Aschenbroich, who has served as Lead Independent Director since May 2023.

“Since he has been appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in December 2015, Patrick has undertaken an in-depth transformation of the Company,” Aschenbroich said.

He cited changes including improved financial performance, diversification of oil and gas supplies, particularly liquefied natural gas, and the company’s continued pursuit of its energy transition strategy.

“The Board of Directors of TotalEnergies unanimously renews its confidence in Patrick to continue his action,” Aschenbroich said.

TotalEnergies also pointed to shareholder support for changes to the company’s statutory age limits for the chairman and chief executive positions. The measure received nearly 98% support at the shareholders meeting on May 29, 2026.

Pouyanné and Aschenbroich did not participate in the board or Governance and Ethics Committee deliberations concerning their own mandates.

TotalEnergies is a global integrated energy company operating in about 120 countries. It produces and markets oil and biofuels, natural gas, biogas, low-carbon hydrogen, renewable energy and electricity, and employs more than 100,000 people.
