ABUJA, Nigeria, Oct. 8, 2026 — Nigeria Mining Week 2026 has added the International Lithium Association and Mercuria Energy Trading NG to its programme ahead of the mining industry conference opening in Abuja next week.
Mercuria Energy Trading NG, the Nigerian subsidiary of global energy and commodities group Mercuria, has joined as a Gold Sponsor, while the International Lithium Association, or ILiA, has joined as a Supporting Association.
The 11th edition of Nigeria Mining Week is scheduled for Oct. 12-14 at the Abuja Continental Hotel under the theme, “Unlocking Investment and Growth through Partnerships.”
Organisers expect more than 3,080 attendees and more than 90 sponsors and exhibitors for discussions focused on financing, mineral processing, infrastructure, market access and the development of Nigeria’s mining industry.
The programme will examine six areas: exploration and geological data; financing and investment; industrialisation and processing; infrastructure and power; environmental, social and governance issues, transparency and community development; and international and regional collaboration.
The International Lithium Association will participate in the Critical Minerals Forum on Oct. 13. Astrid Karamira, ILiA’s EMEA representative director, is scheduled to join a panel examining how Nigerian mineral projects can connect with global battery, magnet and electric vehicle markets.
“Global buyers are asking more of their suppliers on quality, traceability and responsible sourcing than ever before,” Karamira said. “Nigeria Mining Week is an opportunity to discuss openly what those expectations mean in practice, and how Nigerian projects can meet them.”

The discussions will focus on technical and quality standards, traceability, responsible sourcing and export readiness, as well as the challenges of moving mining projects from exploration to commercial production.
Mercuria’s participation is expected to bring an international commodity trading and offtake perspective to the event, with discussions covering commodity markets, critical minerals supply chains, logistics and infrastructure.
“Nigeria has the mineral endowment to play a growing role in global supply chains, including critical minerals,” Mercuria said. “We look forward to sharing how trading, offtake and logistics partnerships can help Nigerian projects reach global markets.”
Organisers said the event will also feature a Deal Room designed to facilitate one-on-one meetings between mining projects and potential financiers, buyers and strategic partners.
The conference programme begins with pre-conference sessions and roundtables on Oct. 12, covering geological data, financing for junior miners, compliance and enforcement, and power and infrastructure.
The main conference and exhibition open Oct. 13, alongside the Critical Minerals Forum, Women in Extractive Industries Forum and technical workshops. Oct. 14 will feature Gold Day, sessions on steel and industrial minerals, the Deal Room and additional technical workshops.
Nigeria Mining Week is organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria in partnership with PwC Nigeria and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
The event is positioned by organisers as a platform for investors, mining companies, government officials, financiers, commodity buyers and other industry participants to develop partnerships aimed at expanding Nigeria’s mining sector.
The exhibition will run Oct. 13-14, with free entry for visitors.
