TALLINN, Estonia (chatnewstv.com) — Estonian startup and technology event Latitude59 will host events in Uganda and Zambia for the first time this year, expanding its African presence ahead of its annual conference in Kenya, according to a press release issued Tuesday by Marina Bachmann.
The organizers did not specify dates or venues for the planned events in Uganda and Zambia in the announcement.
Latitude59 will return to Nairobi on Dec. 3-4 for its fourth consecutive Kenya edition, bringing together African startup founders, international investors and technology companies to explore opportunities for cross-border investment and business growth.
Organizers expect attendance to be similar to last year’s event, which attracted about 2,000 participants. This year’s edition is expected to include 600 investors from Africa, Europe, the Nordic countries and Asia.
Latitude59 CEO Liisi Org said the organization’s international initiatives aim to connect startup communities across continents and create opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors.
“Rooted in Estonia, Latitude59 is building bridges between countries, continents, and startup ecosystems,” Org said. She added that the platform seeks to share Estonia’s startup experience internationally and help innovators develop businesses with global potential.
The organization will also return to Singapore on Oct. 28 for the Singapore x New Nordics Night of Innovation & Investment, held as a side event of the SWITCH technology and innovation conference.
The Singapore event will connect startup founders and investors from Northern Europe, Singapore and Southeast Asia. Organizers expect more than 100 delegates from nine Nordic countries, Org said.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Estonian Embassy in Singapore, Nordic Singapore Innovation Days and the Swedish Energy Agency.
Latitude59’s flagship conference took place in Tallinn in May, attracting more than 3,000 participants from over 70 countries, including 800 startup representatives and 60 investors, according to the press release.
Founded in Estonia, Latitude59 has expanded its international activities through events in Singapore, Kenya and the South African cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg. Its latest plans would extend that network to Uganda and Zambia, adding two more African startup markets to its activities.
The press release did not provide further details about the planned Uganda and Zambia events.
