Vista Bank Group has launched its first banking operation outside Africa, targeting trade finance and corporate banking as it seeks to connect African businesses with international capital and markets.
Vista Bank Group has launched Vista Bank France, marking its first banking establishment outside the African continent as the pan-African lender seeks to expand its international reach and facilitate cross-border business.
The launch was announced on October 19 during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group in Bangkok, according to the company. The official launch ceremony took place on October 16.
The French operation is intended to serve as a gateway between African businesses and European financial markets, offering trade finance, corporate banking, correspondent banking, foreign exchange, treasury management, factoring and advisory services.

Simon Tiemtoré, chairman of Vista Bank Group, said the expansion represented a step towards building an international banking network focused on African companies.
“Vista Bank France represents much more than a new geographical expansion. It is a concrete expression of our vision: to build a Pan-African banking group capable of sustainably connecting Africa to the rest of the world,” Tiemtoré said in the company’s announcement.
“Our ambition is to give African companies better access to global markets, capital and opportunities, while putting our African expertise at the service of these connections.”
The move follows the French banking regulator’s approval for the establishment of Vista Bank France, announced by the group in January 2025. At the time, Vista said the French operation would be its first banking business outside Africa and its first newly established bank since a series of acquisitions of banking subsidiaries on the continent.
The expansion comes as African banking groups seek to strengthen their role in financing trade and investment across borders. A presence in France could help Vista deepen relationships with European financial institutions and businesses while supporting African companies seeking access to international markets.
Vista joins other African banking groups with a presence in France, including Morocco’s Attijariwafa Bank and Bank of Africa, as the lender expands its international footprint and seeks to strengthen financial links between African businesses and European markets.
Vista’s stated ambition is to build on its African operations by developing financial links with international markets. The launch of its French establishment marks a new phase in that strategy, although the extent of its impact will depend on its ability to attract corporate clients, develop correspondent banking relationships and expand trade-finance activity.
