JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (XOL Africa) — South Africa’s First National Bank (FNB) has appointed Malawian marketing executive Linda Kachingwe-Sisya as its new chief marketing officer, entrusting her with leading the lender’s brand strategy, marketing and corporate affairs as it enters its next phase of growth.
Kachingwe-Sisya succeeds Faye Mfikwe, who is stepping down after a 19-year tenure during which she helped shape FNB’s brand and marketing strategy.
She brings more than two decades of marketing and communications experience across the banking and consumer sectors and holds a master’s degree. Before joining FNB’s executive leadership, she served as Head of Marketing at Rand Merchant Bank and as Standard Bank’s Regional Marketing Head for Southern and Central Africa.
In her new role, Kachingwe-Sisya will focus on strengthening FNB’s market presence, driving customer engagement and ensuring the bank’s brand continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of retail and business customers.
She joins the executive leadership team from FNB’s Broader Africa and International division, where she led marketing and communications across African markets and key international hubs, including the United Kingdom, the United States, India and China.
FNB Chief Executive Officer Lytania Johnson said the appointment reflects the bank’s commitment to developing leadership from within while maintaining continuity.
“Linda brings extensive experience, strategic insight and a deep understanding of the role brands play in building lasting relationships. Having successfully led marketing across our Africa and International franchise, she understands the opportunities and expectations shaping customers in a rapidly changing environment,” Johnson said.
Kachingwe-Sisya said she intends to build on the strong foundation established by the bank’s marketing and corporate affairs teams.
“I am privileged to take on this role and to work alongside talented teams who are passionate about delivering meaningful help to the customers and communities we serve,” she said.
“FNB has earned a strong reputation through its continued focus on innovation, relevance, help and impact. I look forward to building on that foundation, while strengthening our market presence and ensuring that our brand continues to reflect the values, ambition and optimism that have defined FNB’s success over many years.”
The appointment comes as FNB continues to expand its operations across Africa and internationally, with the bank positioning its brand strategy to support changing customer expectations and sustained business growth.
