LAGOS, Nigeria — Flutterwave has launched banking services in Nigeria, allowing businesses and individuals to open and manage bank accounts directly from its platform as the fintech expands beyond payments into broader financial services.

The company said the new banking offering is now available through the Flutterwave Dashboard, which has been split into two sections: Banking and Payments. Users can switch between the two services from a single interface.

The launch follows Flutterwave’s acquisition of a Nigerian microfinance banking licence, which the company said would enable it to accelerate the development of banking products for its customers.
Under the new Banking View, customers can fund their accounts, make transfers and pay bills, including utilities, cable television and airtime.

Flutterwave said additional services are planned, including the ability to open more accounts, earn yields on interest-bearing accounts, access loans and eventually move business banking operations from other banks to Flutterwave.

The banking service is currently available only to businesses and individuals in Nigeria and is powered by the company’s Nigerian microfinance banking licence.

Flutterwave said the expansion builds on a payments infrastructure that has processed more than $50 billion in transactions through its dashboard.

The existing Payments View continues to provide tools for accepting and managing customer payments, including payment links, invoices, an online store and customer management services.

The move places Flutterwave among a growing group of African fintech companies seeking to move beyond payments and provide customers with broader financial infrastructure.

For Flutterwave, the strategy effectively brings banking and payments into a single platform, allowing customers to manage both sides of their financial operations without switching between providers.
